Time for us to do some “catch up” blogging! Things got so busy at the end of our trip that we didn’t have time to keep you up to date, so now we will back track to let you know how the last weeks of our trip went!
Last we wrote, we were leaving Florida and yes, we did do that. 🙂 After leaving Florida we headed to Georgia to spend some time with our friends the Decker’s. Georgia still had some fields with cotton in them and it was so beautiful! Our friends showed us some real southern hospitality and we enjoyed a delicious dinner and encouraging conversation. After dinner at the Decker’s we were off again to make it a little further on the highway toward our destination the following day. The next afternoon we made it to Tennessee and our sweet friends the Vaughn’s. They were kind enough to put us up for the night and we had an absolutely wonderful time with them!
Following our time in Tennessee was the Missionary Training Center (where we graduated from Dec. 08’) in Missouri. In advance, we had set up some meetings with missionaries who had ministered in Papua New Guinea. There was no way we were going to pass up the opportunity to pick their brains about our future mission field! All the meeting where incredibly helpful and encouraging. We are so happy we were able to connect with these amazing servants and benefit from their wisdom and insight. While we were in MO we also got to see a lot of friends and that was so great! Unfortunately, we had a massive snow storm that kept us from going to church on Sunday, so that was a bummer. We were going to speak at our church in MO, but unfortunately it did not happen. 🙂
Finally the snow was plowed and we were able to leave MO only one day later than we had planned. We had a full day of driving to get to Indiana were we stayed at a very special place called Baan Saabi. It is a missionary retreat home run by some friends of ours. Our time there was meant as a time for us to unwind and be encouraged. That we were! We so appreciate our friends Dave and Irene and their hearts to encourage missionaries. They certainly encouraged us! One huge blessing we had while spending time in Indiana was that we were given free passes to visit the Creation Museum right over the state line in Kentucky. It was INCREDIBLE to say the least and we had a wonderful time there. If you ever have a chance to go to it, we highly recommend going! Even if you have to pay :). The way the museum is set up it leaves you feeling a fresh awe for all that Christ has done for us, through our salvation, and his magnificent creation!
After two nights at Baan Saabi we left and headed to another part of Indiana to see our friends Collin & Lindsey. Our dinner with them was delightful and Jude, after acting a bit grumpy (I just thought he was tired because it was late) projectile vomited-for the first time in his little life. So, that was a bit shocking. Thankfully he was fine for all we could tell and slept like a rock the entire way home. So that was it, we made it home safe and sound late on Feb. 4th and were more than happy to crawl into our own bed and sleep like little babies!
