Yesterday I had an amazing time with a dear friend. Unfortunately Tom could not make it because he had been feeling a bit sick but that did not stop little Jude and I from hopping in the car and driving to see a very special person for the day!
It is our privilege to introduce to you: Aimee Hedrick! Recently (as some of you know) we made the decision to push our departure date by two weeks to mid July, rather than July 5th. This decision was made for a very good reason and that reason is Aimee! Like us, Aimee is a missionary who is headed to PNG. At this time we are planning to make our move overseas with her. To make this plan work it was necessary to meld our schedules. We are so incredibly excited and blessed at the opportunity to be accompanied by this friend for such a huge life transition. For me especially it will be a wonderful treat to have another female along for such a long trip. And by the way, Jude loves her. 🙂
You might ask, “So who is this Aimee and where did she come from?”. Well, I will tell you! Aimee is a 24 year old from CA who is incredibly passionate about the same thing we are – reaching the unreached with the news of God’s grace! She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at a young age. Later in her life God used a short term missions trip to challenge her in the area of missions which then led her to Bible School. That is where we met her. Aimee came to Bible School only a year after Tom & I so we began getting to know her back in 2004. To our surprise she arrived as one of our class mates at the Missionary training center in MO. We graduated together and then Aimee stayed in the training for 6 more months to receive more in depth training in Linguistics. She finished her linguistics training in October of last year. Tom & I are very thankful for Aimee’s strengths in this area!  You can read more about Aimee by checking out her blog at http://aimeehedrick.wordpress.com/
Please Pray: As of right now we know that Aimee will be with us throughout (at least) our first year of national language and culture study in Papua New Guinea. After that we do not know what is in store. Both of us (Tom & I and Aimee) still need a team to work with in a tribe. Would you pray for us that God would direct us if it is His will that we be partners? We certainly love Aimee and would be delighted if she could be part our team. It will be exciting to see how God will lead us and who He will provide for our future team mates. Maybe Aimee will be one of them! Thank you for your prayers in the area!
