Wrapping up 2022

December 18, 2022 by Travis and Becky Lesicka

Training

Two weeks ago Travis finished his last training flight in the Cessna 206.  This fall he completed 26 lessons during 25 hours of flight time.  After Christmas break he will begin 40 hours of training in the Kodiak simulator.  He also continues to work on the remote fuel pump project. We’re hoping it will be in production and ready to be shipped by the end of January with the new helicopter.  Wait, new helicopter??

New Helicopter!

Currently Ethnos360 operates 3 Kodiak airplanes and 1 Robinson R66 helicopter in Papua New Guinea.  The Kodiak is able to haul heavy loads long distances and the R66 is able to land in villages where a full-length landing strip is not feasible. They work together to transport people and supplies into really hard to reach places.  A second R66 was on order from the factory, but like many other things, was delayed due to covid.  It finally arrived in November!  The team here has been hard at work painting it and outfitting it with custom equipment for flying in remote locations.  The goal is to ship it to PNG sometime in January or February so it can begin serving church planting missionaries there.

You can read more about the helicopter that arrived for PNG here: https://ethnos360aviation.org/stories/story/i-see-the-light

Family

November and December flew by quickly.  Nathan participated in his school’s Veterans’ day program and Christmas concert, Travis’s parents came for a visit, and all 3 kids were part of our church’s Christmas play (1 shepherd and 2 sheep).  For Christmas break we are planning to visit Travis’s grandmother in California.  Everyone has been pretty healthy and Nathan is still loving Kindergarten.

Praises:

  • We’re half way through aviation training and it’s going well.
  • Everyone has been relatively healthy the last two months!

Prayer Requests:

  • Safe travel to and from California over Christmas break
  • Wisdom in parenting our kids
  • That we would manage our time well
  • For the fuel pump project to move into production stage by the middle of January

Ministry Support Update:

We are currently at 64% of our targeted support level.  Our goal is to be at 100% by next summer so that we can prepare to leave for the field.  If you are led to partner with us, we’d love to have you join our team.  Email or call for more information.  Contributions can be sent to Ethnos360 at: Ethnos360, 312 West First Street, Sanford, FL 32771. Online giving and EFT’s are possible at https://ethnos360.org/missionaries/travis-and-rebecca-lesicka

Praying you have a blessed Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus. Thanks for standing with us on this journey!
