Second quarter has begun with all its activities. Paul finished his soccer season at the beginning of second quarter. They played another school that was quite a ways out of the city so they spent two nights there. They had a great time and won the first game and tied the second.
The second season sports have also begun, which means that Ben and Walt are now busy with varsity basketball. They have their first game this weekend.
Ashley is officially a teenager. She turned thirteen at the end of October. She will also be playing on a basketball team with tougher competition this year. It will be a lot of learning and maybe fewer wins. She continues to enjoy playing the trumpet and piano as well as playing soccer intramurals after school.
Juliana is participating in a drama club after school and we are looking forward to seeing her performance in chapel the beginning of December. She also is playing the piano as well as the clarinet. She is enjoying middle school and being with her friends.
Abby enjoys reading and learning. This week, the elementary will be celebrating International Week. They are learning about different countries. At the end of the week, they dress up in costumes from different countries and parade around the circle at school. The whole school comes out to watch them.
We have a praise that our visas have been extended for another two years! We are excited to see that God has given us another two years to serve Him here in the Philippines. Ben is excited too because now he can apply for his driver’s permit here in the Philippines. He has a driver’s license in the US but needs a Philippine permit to drive here (he is hoping for a driver’s license, but he needs to be 17 to get that). With the approval of the visa came an additional expense of $400+ above our normal expenses. We also need to renew Paul’s passport which expires in a few months. As we mentioned in our last letter, our van continues to have problems. We just got our van back from the mechanic who just fixed the brakes and some other problems as well.
We appreciate your many prayers for us and our ministry here in the Philippines, providing education for missionaries’ children so they can carry out their ministries among the people of Asia.
