We are now in the middle of our first quarter of school and already in the midst of busy schedules again. Thank you for praying for Walter as he worked on student schedules over the summer. By the time school started, all the middle school students had a workable schedule and very little changes needed to be made after the first day. The principal noted that was one of the smoothest first-day of classes that he could remember.
Walter will be the middle school counselor first semester and the middle school principal second semester; but he loves working directly with students, so is teaching Discovery again. This year he has three students in one class. He typically does one-on-one, but this year he is trying group educational therapy for three outgoing students. The class preparation is more but only uses one period each day. Walter is also leading two Truth Projects for staff this year—over 50 staff members are attending! We are also going through the True U DVD series with our two older girls and their friends. Juliana is on the first set (Does God Exist?), and Ashley is on the second set (Is the Bible Reliable?).
In addition to working one day in the health office, I am one of the class advisors for Ashley’s senior class. We are already busy with the senior play which will occur at the end of September. There are many details that need to be taken care of, publicity, menu for the dinner theater, organizing workers, etc. Pray for unity with the class. The officers are a great bunch to work with, hard workers and organized.
Ashley is once again busy. She is in the senior play as well as on the varsity soccer team. With many seniors graduating last year, this is a building year for them. Ashley also had her senior piano recital last Thursday. It went very well and she is glad to have that behind her.
Juliana is on the varsity volleyball team and enjoying it. It is also a building year for them, but they are doing pretty well. It is hard to believe that she is a junior. Her school work and piano lessons keep her busy as well. She is excited to have a piano student this year.
Abby is no longer in elementary. She has found the schedule in middle school stretching but is fitting in well. I think she enjoys seeing her dad in the halls. This week is Friendship Week so she gets to dress up crazy this week.
Our boys, Ben and Paul are back to school as well. We are praising God that Paul has a part time job on campus. That works well for him and his soccer practice and games. Ben works on campus again but is praying for an additional job to help with his cash expenses.
Thank you for praying for us as we minister to missionaries’ children, providing them with a quality, Christ-centered education.
In Christ,
Cheryl for the Spicers
