Endings and Beginnings

October 28, 2012 by Walter and Cheryl Spicer

June 2012

As usual, the end of the school year was busy with concerts, banquets and exams.  Abby was excited to go to her first banquet with the middle school and was on the senate that was in charge of planning it.   Juliana and Ashley attended the junior-senior banquet and Walter and I went along as chaperones.  It was very nice and fun to see the students looking so beautiful and handsome.  We also had our staff banquet and honored many staff members who reached a milestone in their service at Faith Academy.  We also said good-bye to many others who are leaving either for a short time or some with no plans to return.  That was hard.

The last week of school was full of activities for the seniors graduating.  They had their senior trip at a beach resort and then a baccalaureate service and commencement.  It was exciting to see these students pass a milestone in their lives and congratulate them as they move on in their lives.  It was also sad to say good-bye to them and others.  Ashley received a scholarship that night as well.  Please pray for these seniors as they head off to colleges and jobs and all the adjustments they will have away from their families and friends and all that is familiar to them.

We were able to go to the US to celebrate the wedding of our son, Ben to his wife Jessica.  We are excited to welcome her into the family and witness the beginning of their marriage together.

We are also praising God the provision of jobs for our children.  Ben and Jessica both have jobs in Missouri.  Ben is working at a restaurant and Jessica is working at a hospital.  We are excited that she passed her board exam to be a registered nurse.  Paul and Ashley are working at the same factory in Wichita so that is nice.  Juliana was also able to get a part time job at a nursing home here in town until she went back to the Philippines.  Abby has been helping her grandparents out and getting some money as well.  They also had fun helping our church with their VBS program

Pray for Walter as he works on the schedule for the middle school.  We are also thankful for the opportunities we had to share in a couple of churches during our short time in the US. The summer is quickly passing by but we are thankful for the time we have had in the US with friends and family.  Also pray for us as we are separated by miles while I help Ashley get ready for college in the US.  I will return the end of August.

Thank you for your prayers for us,

Cheryl for the Spicers
