While Kansans are praying for rain, in Manila, they are praying for the rain to let up. Though there is no typhoon in the area, the monsoon rains have been very heavy causing severe flooding in Manila. Many areas are waist to neck deep, causing many to evacuate their homes. People have been on the rooftops, waiting for rescue. Needless to say, school has been cancelled at Faith Academy for the last 3 days. This is similar to the flooding 3 years ago during the storm, Ondoy. Walter, Juliana and Abby have been very fortunate that there is no flooding on our street. Please continue to pray with us for the rains to let up and for encouragement to those who have been affected. Our girls’ piano teacher has had 36 inches of rain in her house. She lost her piano 3 years ago in the flood, as the water reached within 6 inches of the ceiling of their first floor. (She has 51 students so her piano is her ministry.) Please pray for protection and recovery of those affected and that the Faith Community can be a light for those in need.
On a much happier note, we are excited to announce the birth of my grand niece, Vanessa Grace, born to Jeff and Sarah Burnham in Botswana, Africa on August 8. Sarah had some early contractions and was confined to bed, so my nephew, Zach went to Africa to help take care of their oldest child, Tristan and all the household chores while Jeff was flying. Zach will return soon and continue his studies at Calvary Bible College where Paul and Ashley will also be attending.
Thank you for your prayers for our family,
Cheryl for all
