First quarter of school was packed with activities and events. Walter attended the staff retreat before school started and the girls had fun with their friends and making new ones. Juliana also attended the high school retreat in mid August. I returned to the Philippines at the end of August after getting Ashley settled into college.
As middle school counselor, Walter helps organize many activities as well as scheduling classes and testing. He helped organized the Barkada Bash, a time for the different groups in middle school to get to know each other and have fun. It was filled with many fun activities and games. Friendship Week was a week where the kids and staff could dress up in the different themes and also have some friendship building games. Walter also enjoys working with his Discovery student.
When I returned to the Philippines, the senior class was in the middle of preparing for their senior play. Juliana was involved as one of the officers. I was busy helping organize students to work on the set construction and printing of the tickets and programs as well as overseeing the student workers on the nights of the play. They performed a wonderful comedy called “Arsenic and Old Lace.”
Because Juliana had some projects to work on over break, we decided to stay home and relax and enjoy some family time. Walter took Juliana for a one-day trip with some of her friends to go surfing. It was a highlight for them, even if they couldn’t stand up very long.
With the beginning of second quarter, volleyball season is ending and basketball will begin soon. This was a rebuilding year for Juliana’s volleyball team. We hosted a volleyball tournament last weekend and Juliana was selected for the all-tournament team. They are getting ready to go to the Far East tournament. She is looking forward to the trip. Walter will begin basketball tryouts and then the season begins.
Thank you for your prayers for our family and ministry,
Cheryl for all
