A new year has begun and we are beginning a new semester. We enjoyed a break from school as a family and also attended our mission conference. It was wonderful to see our co-workers with New Tribes Mission and what is going on in their various works. It was also a good reminder of why we are here and working at Faith Academy. The gospel is being preached and churches are being started. God’s Word is being translated so these people can learn about our Awesome God. These churches are also sending out their own missionaries and reaching others for Christ. New areas are being opened and someday we will worship with these believers in heaven, forever singing His praises!!
This semester, Walter will have the role of middle school vice principal. It is a new role so they are still working on what is the job description. He will be helping the principal and guidance counselor a lot.
We now have less than a month before our Outdoor Education week. Walter will be the beach site leader and I will go along as the camp nurse. This year, the focus will be on World War II history. At the beach, the kids will learn about marine life–particularly sea turtles and hopefully will get to release some newly hatched turtles into the sea.
Basketball season continues and will culminate in the Far East tournament in February. The girls have had some wins and losses. They are in a new league so we are learning how strong this league is. It is a rebuilding year for the team. The highlight of the season is the many chances the girls have had to share their faith using Wordless book bracelets.
We would appreciate your prayers for us as we continue in these ministries. This is Juliana’s senior year so we are also looking at transitions for our family and our home assignment in June. We will return to the US for one year at that time. Pray also for the finances for the tickets to return.
Thank you for your prayers for us,
Cheryl for all the Spicers
