We are nearing the end of the second quarter of school. Walter has been busy helping teachers and evaluating them as their principal. He has
many meetings with students and parents, some have been good and encouraging and some have been difficult.
As the middle school principal, Walter is in charge of planning the week of Outdoor Education that will occur in February. The site they have used in the past is no longer an option so he and his team have been busy researching and visiting another site and also planning all the changes they will need to make by moving to a different site (new ministry opportunity, another site for the beach opportunity, amongst a few of the changes). Please pray for Walter and his team as they continue to communicate to people in charge of these various sites. This has taken a lot of Walter’s time. He was also reviewing the senior students’ applications to decide on which students we can take as helpers for this week. This is a highlight for the seniors as well. We want to pick students who will work well and be a good example to the middle school students.
Continue to pray for Walter’s sister, Cathy. God chose to heal her husband, Doug Boettcher, completely by calling him home to be with him on November 13, 2014. We are very saddened by this but we know that God is in control and will work in it for our good.
On another note, we found out not too long ago that Walter’s dad, Lyle Spicer, has cancer in the stomach. We are still waiting to hear the staging and if it has metastasized. It is a fast growing cancer so they are working on which treatment will be best and the right doctor for their insurance so they can begin treatment soon. We praise God for modern technology so that we can talk to the family.
On a lighter note, we are excited that our daughters, Ashley and Juliana, will be joining us for the Christmas break. They arrive in one week. We are also excited to announce that Ben and Jessica will be making us grandparents in May. They are also preparing for their ministry in Brazil, hopefully in one year. Paul continues as part time youth leader as well as working security and finishing his college degree and enjoying his first year of marriage to Bekah. Abby enjoyed her volleyball season and was awarded the Most Valuable Player for her team so we are proud.
Thank you for praying for us, and our ministry at Faith Academy. Continue to pray that our financial support will increase as well. We have been blessed with a few extra gifts for which we are thankful. We are also thankful that the super typhoon that came to the Philippines a few days ago weakened by time it came near us and did not do the damage they predicted.
Merry Christmas!
