The school year ended in a whirlwind. We enjoyed the final banquets and award ceremonies. It is truly a bitter-sweet time. It is amazing how we quickly bond with one another, so when people leave, it is difficult. Several staff members are leaving for good and several on their home assignments. We will miss them all, but God continues to faithfully provide the needed staff for Faith Academy. Please be in prayer for several staff positions needed to be filled for the 2016-17 school year. Click here for the complete list. For the Middle School, we are needing a computer teacher, ELL teacher, Bible teacher, and Chaplain.
We normally have our NTM field conference during Christmas break, but this year it was moved to June 6-11. We couldn’t go until to June 7 as Walter was still doing end-of-the-year checkout with teachers. Plus while at conference, he continued to work on next year’s schedule. We enjoyed catching up with our friends and co-workers in NTM and hearing about the different works on the different islands; rejoicing with them in the progress and learning better how to pray for our fellow missionaries as they work to see God’s word spread among the nations.
We were blessed with a short visit with Cheryl’s parents as they visited the Philippines to check up on the Ibaloi translation progress. After the conference we were able to spend ten days with them. We met them in a city up in the mountains, where Paul & Oreta had their ministry. We enjoyed the cooler climate and even enjoyed a fire and hot chocolate. The fire was not necessary for heat, but a request from Abby. We enjoyed our time and even played miniature golf. Abby and Paul made some amazing putts.
June continued to be busy for Walter. He had to close his Middle School books while in Baguio (computers are a blessing and a curse). During this last week, he was able to finish the master schedule and has most of the middle school students scheduled for next year. Plus he stays busy with paperwork and interviews with new students and staff.
We enjoyed our new SIS (School wide Information System) this year. This was our first time to close the school year and begin a new one with this system, so it was a little more time consuming, but we have been blessed with this powerful tool, and two patient staff members showed Walter how to implement and use it.
Thank you for praying for us this past school year. God truly blessed us with an amazing year and we are excited to see what He has planned for us in the coming school year.
