We are thankful to be back serving in the Philippines, and we are thankful for all of you who pray and give financially which enables us to be here. There was a recent international

article that stated that the Philippines is the worst place in the world to live during the Pandemic, but we are thankful that we can be here so we can be a light. Much of the Philippines is in a strict lockdown.
But life at Faith Academy (FA) is still in full swing. The halls remain quiet as students are not allowed to be on campus–they are not even allowed in public places. We are so thankful for technology so we can deliver our lessons through Distance Learning. It is not our preferred mode of teaching, but that is what God has for us now. Our Community is working hard, making it work. Walter is busy with meetings and emails, but he is thankful to be physically here so some of his meetings can be done face to face.
Cheryl and I are on FA’s COVID Response Team. If someone is not feeling well, they email their supervisor and this team, and we decide if they can come on campus or if they must do a self-quarantine. So Cheryl and the Health Office are kept busy with those issues.
With no children on campus, we are thankful that we can minister at the Butterfly Project, a home for girls that have been abused. (It is the same home that we have mentioned before.) In August, we had to submit paperwork to allow us on their center (as they are required to follow strict COVID protocols), and then the fun began in September. We visited a couple of times just to see ways we can help and for us to get to know the girls again as we have not seen them in 19 months and there are many new girls. Walter tutors every Friday and then both of us do two larger events each month and if our school breaks line up, we can fit in more fun events. Walter loves doing crazy games with the girls and Cheryl loves planning the monthly birthday party. She helps with the decoration, gifts, ice cream, and cake. If you are interested in donating to this ministry–money for the birthday and Christmas parties (gifts, decor, food, etc), or money for sports equipment for Walter’s fun games), please email us.
Thank you for your partnership with us. It is through your prayers and support that we are here in the Philippines, the place God has chosen for us to serve Him–the BEST place in the world!
Blessings,
Walter and Cheryl Spicer
