Thank you for praying for us! First semester was exciting and exhausting. We are definitely feeling more like 60 years old. I can’t stay up until 2 am and then bounce out of bed like I used to, but we are so thankful for our ministry that God has called us to and equipped us for. Please pray for us as we pack up our house and then transition back to the USA for our 6 month home assignment. Pray for those that have volunteered to do some of our duties, and pray for strength as we will continue to monitor our Faith Academy emails, helping with some things.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the Butterfly Girls. They constantly tell us how thankful they are that we consistently spend time with them. (Walter every week and Cheryl every-other week.) Last night we celebrated December birthdays with gifts, cake, and ice cream. Plus we surprised everyone and printed three pictures for each girl. They loved looking at the pictures; many of the pictures were taken by them as they love to borrow my phone and take pictures of themselves. Then to top the evening off, we ended with a popcorn and movie night. They love helping, pouring on the cheese powder and bagging the popcorn. We watched TWO Christmas movies, so it was late when we arrived home, but we were so blessed to be with them and see them smile. There are already tears as they know we leave for the USA soon and will be gone for six months. We have one more Christmas party with them before we fly back to the USA.
Life at Faith Academy is always busy. I am the administrator over our Media and Communication Team; they produce quality work and train our students in the process. Please check our FACEBOOK page, INSTAGRAM posts, and YOUTUBE page. We are finishing up a building project, adding some classrooms and office space to our elementary school. Next semester we will close our pool to do some major repair work. I am the administrator over our theater and we were able to purchase some high quality microphones and equipment for our live streaming. Our theater is phenomenal and it is nice to purchase some equipment to match our theater and the music that our students produce. It is a joy to see our students grow and glorify God with the talent that God has given them. We continue to focus on the spiritual formation of our students and it is a joy to see our students get involved in ministry. We had several ministry opportunities this past semester. Plus we are taking a senior to visit the Butterfly Project as she is wanting to be a social worker.
We are excited to be returning to the USA to see many of you–our friends and family. We are only doing a six month home assignment so we might not be able to see everyone, but please pray for us as we begin scheduling our time. Pray for us as we purchase a reliable car and pray for safety on the road.
Christmas time is always a busy time, but it is also a joyous time as we reflect on God sending us His Son–that joyous news is why we came to the Philippines. We are so thankful for you supporting us (both prayer support and financial support) enabling us to do the ministry God has called us to for 34 years!
Merry Christmas!
Walter and Cheryl
