Thank you for praying for us! God provided an eighth-grade English teacher so Walter could return to full-time administrative work, but Walter enjoyed interacting with students again. His students still come up to him and give him hugs and tell him that they miss him. Walter bonded so well with the eighth-grade class that he will join them on their Eighth Grade Retreat in May.
Outdoor Education went well–great activities, safety, and fun. The students rotated between three different sites that were packed with activities: ministry component, team-building activities, games, ecology (beach clean), learning about marine ecosystems, snorkeling, scuba diving, and worship services each night with devotions in the morning. Walter was the main camp leader.
We still enjoy doing our activities with the Butterfly girls. It is hot season, so during our spring break, we organized a water/sports fest. They had a blast and were soaked the whole morning. For Easter, they love doing an Easter egg hunt, so we bought a lot of candy, and the older girls helped pack the plastic eggs and hide them. They had a lot of fun and ate candy for a few days. I have been studying the Book of John, so for their devotions, we have been looking at many of the key verses in the Book of John.
Faith Academy was blessed with a few large gifts, so we currently have three large projects occurring: building a parking lot, installing solar panels, and repairing a large section of roofing. This summer we have several other projects, including some modifications to our facilities to accommodate people with disabilities. Walter is in charge of our facilities department, so he is involved in all of these projects.
Cheryl is busy in the Health Department. She is very busy with the registration of new students and returning students, keeping their records up to date.
Walter is also in charge of Admissions. We have been praying for more students. This year we have about 525 students, and we might have 550 next year. We are trusting God to meet all of our needs in staffing, student enrollment, and budgets.
Praise for the safe delivery of Evelyn May Freitas to our daughter, Juliana, and Devin, and for the safe delivery of Emberly Sue Lewis to our daughter, Ashley, and Patrick. With two new grandchildren, Cheryl will return to the US this summer to spend time with them. Walter will stay in the Philippines as he will be OIC (Officer in Charge) at Faith Academy, plus he will do some fun activities with Butterfly girls.
Thank you for your prayers,
Walter and Cheryl Spicer
