Greetings from Sunny Arizona,
It’s hard to believe that we have been back in the US for 2 months already. We spent one month in Michigan and now a month in Phoenix. Wayne is flying back to Michigan for two weeks, leaving Phoenix on April 8 to spend more time with his family, especially his sister Suzi who is still under hospice care.
Our communication with our tribal church has been a challenge since we have been back, but Wayne finally got a phone call through via Skype and was able to talk with Awil, one of our Kaul church leaders. It cost $1.00 a minute, but well worth it.
All seems to be going well with the church there. The biggest news was regarding the week long leadership meetings that our small group of believers hosted (supplying food and lodging). The Bible teaching and fellowship meetings were to encourage and challenge the leaders and potential leaders of the tribal churches in the 7 tribes along the south coast of our island of New Britain. A group of believers from two of the tribes came a few days ahead to help prepare housing and gather food for the big event. A much larger group than was anticipated showed up for the meetings. Awil estimated that there were more than 300. He said they heard good teaching and had great fellowship and the overall event had a great impact on the unbelievers in the area. We are trusting the Lord that there will be a Gospel outreach as a result of this in the future.
Awil also reported the good news that since we left, the nearby airstrip has been maintained once again by the man holding the contract for it. We are hoping that he will continue to be faithful.
Thankful for your love and support and most importantly your prayers.
Happy Resurrection Day/He is Risen,
Wayne and Diane
