The little Piapoco kids are now quite used to seeing the white-haired man walk by their homes certain days each week. Respectfully, they call him Awichi, Grampa. `Where are you going, Awichi?´ they would call out, `Are you going to teach God´s Word?´ Wayne would affirm their questions and where he was going, even though they already knew the answers. Little ones, like Paulita, are no longer afraid of the white man. She often stands by his side, listens to what he says, and happily toddles around him. She won his heart with her big brown eyes. When she became quite ill last week, we were able to get some medicines to help. Many had prayed for her and thankfully she is doing much better now. We anticipate the time when Paulita´s parents will place their faith in Christ.
Along with teaching two groups of Piapocos the Phase I evangelism lessons, Wayne teaches the translation team, Reinaldo, Walter and Silvio, the book of Acts. Other men in a nearby area asked him to teach them also, so they are now learning some basic principles of the Bible.
While our daughter, Susan, and children were visiting, they helped to begin the weekly Children´s Program. About 60 Piapoco kids attend most weeks. Reinaldo´s wife, Susana, is the main Bible teacher, with other ladies and me helping.
Then some Christian ladies encouraged me to begin a Bible study with them. Surprisingly, it has gone very well. We meet in each other´s homes once a week, studying our identity in Christ.
How thankful we are that the Lord has allowed us to move out to the tribal area, after many years of long distance discipleship, and for the many opportunities of ministry before us.

This is such great news! I am so glad you are able to return. Praise God he has granted peace to his people. Praise God he has extended your time with them.

WOW, this is great! We rejoice with you all the way! How special to hear of the Word being taught systematically and to each group… in their own language. We pray for you, Wayne and Patsy.

Good to catch up on you “back woodsy” folk. Hope you are both holding up under the heat!
