Church Opening and More Help Coming!

December 3, 2016 by Aaron and Stacy Jex

Merry Christmas!

No white Christmas for us! In our perpetual summer, we’ll have the fans on and the windows wide open as we celebrate the Christ of Christmas this year. We’ll pretend the 80-degree weather outside is frightful, and the fireplace on the TV screen is delightful. We hope you rejoice in the wonderful gift that Jesus was so long ago, and that you are doing your part to inform others of this amazing gift as well.

10+10=20!

What an encouragement to see God continue to support the work of reaching tribal people for Christ here in Papua New Guinea! A few years ago, our aviation program looked in danger of shutting down, which would have drastically affected many of our tribal works. A few years later, we have not one, but THREE completely donated BRAND NEW airplanes which cost millions of dollars (5.4M to be exact)! Not only that, but we enough pilots and mechanics and other support personnel to have a fully-functioning aviation program. What a great God we serve!

He is also continuing to bring other reinforcements here to PNG. This next year, we have 10 new families joining our church development team, and 10 new families/singles joining our support team. TWENTY new families! Praise God! He is not done with His work here in Papua New Guinea – evidenced by the way He has sent people and airplanes our way.

New Church Opening

Recently, we were able to attend a traditional PNG celebration for the opening of another church! This church was started by Papua New Guinea people that New Tribes Mission had reached decades ago. What an encouragement to witness second and third generation believers continuing the work of the Gospel!
Pray that they will not allow false teaching to creep in to their fellowship. Paul the apostle had some pretty brutal words for when that happened in Ephesus. Pray that they can remain true to the Word of God.

Village Hope

In other village news, some good friends from Cedarville College days – Jeremy and Abigail Toyer – came with a group from Village Hope Church to help with a conference for our missionaries in the central area of PNG. Then, they finished up some projects in a tribal location. What a great time of catching up and giving them a good glimpse of the work we are involved with in Papua New Guinea!

Spiritual Emphasis Weekend (SEW)

The teens here in PNG get to participate in a mini summer camp once a year! Hume Lake Christian Camps from California came out this year (and have come many years) to put this on for our teens. This is the second year Kobe was able to go. This year, Aaron joined in to help as a counselor. Pray that the hearts of these teens will continue to be challenged spiritually! That would be quite a tragedy to be doing God’s work overseas while your own kids don’t follow Christ!  Here is a video about Hume and our school, Numonohi Christian Academy (NCA).
