So I did it. Today I went shopping in a TOTALLY different area than I am used to. The missionaries from PQQ came out for the monthly order & I met a few of them to spend the day shopping. The PQQ missionaries left at 5:00 a.m. I had to leave my house at 6:30 a.m. to meet them. We all arrived back at PQQ at 6:00 p.m. This made for a VERY LONG, HOT day!
Shopping down in the escadaria was soooooo different. You can not just go to one store to get things….you have to find just the right store, and then you need to pray that it will actually have what you want/need. Not only do have to walk to a MILLION different stores, but things are much more ‘third world.’ The streets are dirty, the people are poor (or at least, more so), the stores are not air conditioned, things are dirty….well, you get the idea.
All that said, it was a pretty fun day. I don’t know how many times it will take me to learn the area (probably a lot!), but today was a good start. I was able to visit many small stores, the fruits, veggies & fish markets, as well as eat at one of the local restaurants that many of the missionaries like.
(I actually wrote this on Wen. Aug. 4th, but I couldn’t get any pic’s to upload. Today, I can only get this one…I’ll keep trying though…I would LOVE to share the pic’s from the fish market 🙂 )
