What is going on?
I have been in Iowa connecting with my sending church as well as individuals. I have also been getting some much needed allergy tests done and been able to start a part time job substituting at a Christian preschool as well as helping part time in aftercare. Something super exciting that happened this month was collaborating with my parents in their newsletter and interview, it was a highlight of my month! Looking Forward…

This September is going to be busy! I get to be a part of the LeMar’s Bible Church Missions Conference this year! I am very excited to be a part of this but also nervous as this will be my first time at a missions conference to represent my own ministry rather than my parents.
I also have an opportunity to participate in Ethnos360’s MK Care Team Retreat. This is an annual event where those who are on the Ethnos360 MK (missionary kid) Care Team meet to discuss plans for the coming years, ways to better help and equip missionary kids and their families, new ways we are reaching out to missionary kids, as well as a time to connect as a team so that we can serve well together.
Besides that I am connecting with friends, helping take care of a dog, and continuing to be in Iowa raising support and connecting with churches and people in the area.

“My family was on home assignment for a year and I got to attend a school and make friends. One day at lunch one of my friends came up to me and asked me where an item was. Without looking up or responding verbally I gestured with my eyebrows and lips towards the location of the item. My friend continued to ask where the item was while I made it more and more obvious each time by pointing very clearly with my lips and eyebrows where it was. Finally, sensing the frustration in my friends voice and being irritated myself, I looked up and said, “Right there!” while pointing my finger towards the object. My friend thanked me and grabbed it. I did not understand until years later that those in the US do not use their facial features to point, but will usually describe exactly where the object is verbally or use their hands and fingers to point out where the object is. Where I had grown up the people rarely used their hands and fingers to point something out and if the object was visible would simple gesture towards it with a facial feature.”

Prayer Requests and Praises
Prayer Requests:
Praise:
- Wisdom and endurance as I figure out how to best connect with people as I do support raising
- That my team of financial and prayer partners would grow so that I am able to move forward with what the Lord has called me to
- The ability to present my ministry well at the missions conference
- Safety in travel
- For support and encouragement from friends, family, and church family
- For places to stay while I’m in Iowa
- For the growth in financial and prayer support through my time of support raising
- For the ability to travel and visit friends

I am currently at 23% of my monthly support!
I am so thankful for those who have partnered with me financially and I am overwhelmed by the amount of people who are keeping me in their prayers. Thank you for partnering with me in prayer! I know that without those who are a part of my team, both in prayer and finance, I could not be moving forward with what the Lord has for me.
If you are interested in giving, you can scan the QR code or click the button at the bottom of this letter and it will take you to where you can partner financially. If you have questions or would like to know more about what I’m doing, I would love to meet with you! Ways to connect with me through email or phone are at the bottom of the letter and I would love the opportunity to get to share with you what the Lord is doing and how you can be involved!
Other ways you can be involved:
- Prayer! I appreciate and treasure the fact that I have people praying for me.
- Opening your home as a place where I can present my ministry. I would love to share with you and others about what the Lord is doing!
- Interested in my prayer card? I would be happy to send you one, email or text me your mailing address.
- Invite your friends or family to subscribe to this newsletter.
- If you go to a different church than I do, and they are looking to take on a missionary, reach out to me and I would love to connect with you about that!
- If you have other ideas I would love to hear them!
I am new here… who are you?
If I have not had the opportunity to meet you or interact with you, welcome! My name is Avalon Luse and I am serving with Ethnos360 as a part of MK Care, which serves missionary kids and their families so that the gospel can go out to all people.
I grew up as a missionary kid overseas in Papua New Guinea. Starting when I was one-year old until I graduated high school when I was nineteen. This experience gave me a passion for missions and a heart for missionary kids. If you are interested in more of my story checkout my website using the QR code in the connect with me section
