What is going on?
September was a crazy month! I was in three different States and was involved in two major events. My first week and a half of September was spent helping my grandparents get ready for a missions trip, getting some allergy tests done, and getting ready for the rest of the hectic month.
I then dove headfirst into LeMars Bible Church’s 40th annual missions conference. It was the first missions conference I have attended where I represented my own ministry rather than my parents. It was a little nerve racking at first, but it ended up being a really encouraging time that was extremely uplifting.
After the closing sermon on Sunday night, I jumped in my car and drove 6 1/2 hours to Roach Missouri to participate in the annual Ethnos360 MK (missionary kid) Care staff retreat. It was a busy and motivating time where we had meetings for five to six hours a day discussing what our team looked like, resources and requirements for our team so that we are on the same page and well equipped for caring for missionary kids and their families, what our team was involved in, and how we can improve to better connect and equip missionary kids and their families. It was helpful for me in how to move forward and ways to become better equipped for the next step of ministry. I was also super excited to hear about some of the new areas my team is wanting to expand in to connect with a wider range of MKs (missionary kids) and become a part of the smaller team that is going to be initiating these ideas.
Since I was already in Missouri, after the retreat had finished, I paid a visit to my roommates from the Ethnos360 Missionary Training Center and spent a few days with them recharging from the busy weeks I had just had. I then went and was able to share with a small group who are also located in Missouri. Although I had never met my hosts before this, I felt very much at home with them. They were extremely hospitable and I enjoyed talking and sharing with them as well as playing some games and having delicious food. I also stopped by Wisconsin to visit a couple more friends before finishing off the month with a huge potluck at my home church in Iowa.
Overall the month was extraordinarily busy and also extremely encouraging. I learned quite a bit and my motivation to continue pushing forward, in raising support for what the Lord has for me, was bolstered.

Looking forward…
This October I am going to be focusing and working on connecting within local churches. My hope and my goal is to be able to attend and share with some churches outside of my home church so that I can get to know other believers in the area and give them an opportunity to hear what the Lord is doing in my life.

“ I remember when I was a little bit older and we were on furlough, we had a dishwasher. One day, when my mom was putting dishes in the dishwasher, my little sister asked why my mom was putting our dirty dishes in a “box”. We then realized we had never told her what a dishwasher was.”

I am new here… who are you?
If I have not had the opportunity to meet you or interact with you, welcome! My name is Avalon Luse and I am serving with Ethnos360 as a part of MK Care, which serves missionary kids and their families so that the gospel can go out to all people.
I grew up as a missionary kid overseas in Papua New Guinea. Starting when I was one-year old until I graduated high school when I was nineteen. This experience gave me a passion for missions and a heart for missionary kids. If you are interested in more of my story checkout my website using the QR code in the connect with me section.
