This year for Christmas I had to ask myself, “Would a country without Christ have Christmas?”
Well, you think about that for awhile and I will change directions. We found ourselves celebrating Christmas in a place filled with Christians, which is the center for NTM in Papua New Guinea with the Moritz family and others. It is a blessing we realize that we may not get next year and are so thankful for the things God gives us each moment. As of now our lives have been in constant change, so much so that the only things we can count on is that it will be different in a little while. But this truly serves a better purpose as it molds us into being more aware of the blessings that we have at the moment and not focusing on the blessings that we will hope to come. This realization is probably the best Christmas present that I have received in a long time; that is God’s present of awareness.
I LOVE THIS ILLUSTRATION THAT JOSH GIVES NEXT OF WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BUILD A TEAM AND BEGIN A MINISTRY IN THE TRIBE! I HOPE YOU CAN SEE WHAT A PROCESS THIS CAN BE. (SHARA)
Well as of now we are in the midst of waiting to hear back from potential partners. It’s really best understood as the “dating phase.” Really it is. I know it may sound weird to describe it as that but think of it in this way. We are asking families to consider living with-in hearing distance of each other and to live with each other 7 days a week for potentially 20 years or more. We are essentially asking them to be a part of our life. Isn’t that what dating is?
So along those lines when you first see someone that you could potentially partner with you have the same flood of emotions that come with dating. Once you muster up enough courage to put yourself in the vulnerable position of making your thoughts known, you then wait for their response. In dating it usually happens instantly, an instant rejection or an instant approval. Oh how I desire to have that! However in our case the period of response can take months!
Well that leaves us looking a bit like this… We are ready for “the island” along with Katie Vanbuskirk (A Single missionary ready to join.) and there are two more families who are in the stage of either rejecting or accepting the possibility of “the island”. I don’t know when we will know for sure. It could be weeks or months (hopefully not months), but once we find out we will be ready to move along.
KEEP THEM AND THE TEAM THE LORD PUTS TOGETHER IN YOUR PRAYERS!
