Bryan was asked to take over the Center Operations department. There was a few adjustments to our staff and that left a position open for manager. We both talked and prayed over this as we felt that this would be a huge stretch as a stressful job for Bryan. Much of the job description was not where Bryan felt he was gifted. We talked to different leaders and friends and decided to take the job! We are very short staffed and there were many people taking jobs that were not necessarily in their gifting. Bryan is now manager and has been officially for over a year!
In Bryan’s words this is what he does.
I continue to manage the center operations department. I have a great team around me that help me from Northern Ireland, Germany, Netherlands & the States. Three of us are full-time in the department and the other two help when they can as they have other ministries that are their first priority. I oversee 15 to 19 national workers that help us in the department. We have been tearing down old houses here, fixing the water system, fixing generators, fixing problems that arise in many of our 75 buildings on the center as well as organizing projects (along with tribal builds and upkeep), ordering materials and parts, overseeing the mechanics with our car rental fleet, and lots of meetings, just to mention a few of the things that happen daily around here. Often too, as the need arises, we try to free up at lest one or two guys to be available for a bush build. God continues to teach me to ask Him to daily lead me as I have so much facility maintenance to manage and physically take care of. To be honest, I get stressed and can’t shut off work since I live it hourly. Please pray that I would evaluate my role in the department and for the Lord to show me strong boundaries, balance of quality family time, Shara time and still be a blessing and encouragement to my national work guys/gals, and our missionary family here and in the bush.
