At 6:45 am the kids and I (Maggie) were driving to the airport to come to our new home! We boarded a plane and flew to an air-strip in a language group close to Pal to meet the helicopter. The helicopter flew us the rest of the way over the mountains and back home. Tons of people were there to meet us but they were all very understanding of how I totally ignored them and went up to see the house. 🙂 The guys were all still working until the last minute, so I had to look beyond the scraps and sawdust everywhere, but the house looks beautiful. The kitchen cabinets are all done, the bedroom and bathroom shelving is all done, the kitchen table and office desks got built, the windows all have shutters, and (most excitingly) our very own bed is finally ready to sleep on! They said it couldn’t be done, but we got that bed all the way here from Minnesota and are looking forward to ending each day in its comfort.
Because of the rain, the pigs, and all the recent foot traffic, the path up to our house is very muddy. I’m pretty sure that mud mixed with sawdust is what the Egyptians built the pyramids with, and there is about a half inch of it caked onto our front porch. But we are so glad to be back in Pal in time for our very first jungle rainy season, and so so thankful for every person that helped us get this done. For the work team guys who each spent a week away from their families, to the ladies who sent in treats for the work teams, to the supply buyers who gathered all the supplies we needed, to the friends who came by to help when I was alone with the kids for two weeks – and especially for all of you who were praying for us so faithfully. For the first time, our family has its own home, and we pray that we can use this huge blessing to be a blessing here in Pal.
