Probably many of you have had bread on a stick before but it took me moving to the jungles of Papua New Guinea to have it for the first time. We had a German couple (with their 1 year old son) in Pal for a week and a half visiting (they’re thinking of joining the Pal work) and they are the reason we have now eaten bread on a stick. The night before they left we had a campfire, wrapped bread dough around sticks, and then cooked the dough over the fire. It was quite good.
We had a good visit with this couple and it was a joy to get to know them. We’ll probably be able to let you know within a few weeks if we have new teammates or not. Pray that God would give everyone wisdom and direction as decisions are made.
Maggie and I are chugging forward in language learning as we near our second language check (end of May). The beginning of literacy has been pushed back (for numerous reasons) and we’re now looking at beginning August of this year. Because of the delayed start Maggie and I will be able to have a much bigger role in teaching literacy and seeing the program get rolling here in Pal, so we’re grateful for that.
We’re all healthy and well (our co-workers, the Claasens, too!) and glad the rainy/windy season is behind us and the dry season before us.
