We’ve been talking about it for months but now it has officially begun. Construction on the literacy school finally began a few days ago. We recently had a gathering (the first picture) where we discussed and decided upon a location for the school. The very next day a group of guys went and began clearing the ground, and every day since then has seen numerous people out there continuing the work. Yesterday, we as a family took the 30 minute hike to the site and hung out for a little while. Our boys carried their little bush knives and helped cut and burn the bush. The community’s excitement for literacy has us encouraged and excited to see the program get up and running. We’re hoping to have our first class begin mid-June, but as we’ve seen in the past, God’s timing is not always the same as our timing. Our first class will consist of 12 students but there are many times that number of people who would love to be part of the first class, so pray for wisdom as we make decisions (with the Pal community) about who will be in the first class.
