Eph 1:3
August 2021
What a blessed summer we’ve had this year, beginning with a wonderful visit from Doug and Nancy and two of their grandchildren. A humorous moment occurred after 5 year-old Baron lost a tooth where upon great-grandpa removed his dentures and offered to loan them to him. I wish I could’ve captured the shocked look on Baron’s face when he saw those teeth! Pray for Doug and Nancy as they are settled temporarily in Milwaukee and have some full travel plans for this fall and next spring.
Our visit to Sacramento and Salt Lake City was another blessed experience full of family times, as well as visiting supporters and supporting churches. Since arriving home we’ve been blessed again by special visits with other ministry partners passing through Sheridan, who’ve been able to take a day or two out of their travel to catch up with one another! One of the Lord’s greatest gifts are relationships that are rich and deep. What an amazing opportunity we have had to bask in the love showered upon us by people that He has placed in our lives and ministry over the years.
Jaruma Alatala final read-through:
The Embaloh Bible has been sent to Nyabau for a final read-through. Five men and five women make up the team currently doing this read through. Some smaller epistles are being read in a group. Longer books are being tackled by individuals, with each book being read completely by at least 2 people. Rina is facilitating this process. (See testimony below.) Fifteen books have been read through once already! Due to flooding last week, Rina used a small boat to get around the village delivering the scripture for reading!
Please pray that their eyes will not tire easily and that they will pick up anything that needs to be revised. Also pray that this read-through will ignite a new hunger in the Embaloh church for having the Word in their language.
Taman materials to be printed:
Recently Darcy received a request from another tribal church group located not far from the Embaloh tribe. This young Taman church is feeling a lack of materials in their heart language as well. Darcy has set up a chat group with some of the main teachers in Taman to get feedback regarding specific needs such as number of books to print, size of books, print design, etc. We are still in the initial stages of this project, so we don’t have a lot of information about what will be printed, but it could include a songbook, lesson material and scripture books as well, although nothing as complicated as a Bible reprint.
Praise and Prayer requests:
- Praise that Rina is in her home village facilitating the Embaloh Bible final read through.
- Praise that Oke was able to draft and send to me 1 Kings chapters 10 and 17 in Semandang this month.
- Praise that Tracy and James are making good progress on the repairs to their home.
- Pray for Greg and Pam. Greg may need to come to the States this fall to help Hannah and Grace settle in Bozeman. Pray for Pam, beginning a new school year with lots of responsibilities and a shortage of teaching staff.
Testimony from Rina:
“After finishing missionary training I was very confused in making the decision for what was next. Thankfully I have the Lord and you who were faithfully praying for me. The Lord opened the door one step at a time. I received input from leadership and returned to my home church in Nyabau. There was a very important ministry need having to do with our plan to reprint my church’s Embaloh Bible. In the end a plan came together for me, from this fall until December 2021, that I would stay at my home church in order to help facilitate the final read through for our Embaloh Bible in preparation for printing it. Aunt Darcy and the team at my church will be working together in this process. Since the big fire in our village last year, we have been hoping that our Embaloh Bible will be able to be reprinted. We are eager for the Embaloh people to have a Bible in their heart language and that everyone who reads it will come to know the Lord and grow spiritually through it. We surely count on your prayers in this important ministry.”
We echo Rina’s expression of gratefulness that God has allowed us to partner with you! Thank you so much for your prayer ministry on our behalf. We are so blessed!
