Getting Around…

October 12, 2018 by Darryl and Becky Jordan

“The LORD will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy, too. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.” Isaiah 58:11 NLT

We have come to the capital city on our island to find God’s chosen vehicle for us. We are praying that we can find a reliable used or maybe, even new car, at a reasonable price this week. It has come to our attention lately that we need a vehicle in the village for emergency situations dealing with our family and also, dealing with the villagers.

We would appreciate your prayers for guidance and for finances as we shop around for a car to be used for God’s glory in His ministry through us among the Agutaynens.

We were on a public utility vehicle while shopping for a car this past week…about 15 kilometers to the Toyota dealer. It was hot at 85 degrees and crowded with 16 other people. MaryAnn kept us well-entertained while eating her ice cream cone and hugging her teddy bear. The ice cream was melting faster than she could eat it. No concern to her as she was more interested in us, the foreigners, rather than eating her ice cream. She was pleasantly sociable as we find most Filipinos we meet are.

Our only means of transportation now! Here in July, Darryl is inspecting his new bike fork and washing his bike at NTM’s Guest House in the city. So he could do our supply runs from the village.
A family driving down the highway.  Another mode of transportation!
Public transportation…nearing the city…during the rainy season!
Public Transportatio: A “trike”driver  drives slow through a puddle…trying to stay dry.
A family trying to stay cool. Some people walk!  A bicycle with a sidecar is not too uncommon here. They are most often owned and used by scavengers who go through the garbage cans looking for anything of value. There are also people who have this type of a bike and ride up and down the streets selling hot food. And there are those who use these bikes to transport their family to the store.
