California Team rebuilding co-worker Lori Morley’s house
We have a team from California here for 3 weeks to help relocate our co-worker Lori Morley’s house from across the airstrip to near our house. For security reasons our team decided it would be better to have Lori nearby where she is not alone. Several weeks ago a builder from our Highlands Centre came out to help us tear down the old and frame up the new house. When the California team arrived the house was only roughly framed and the goal was to get Lori moved in. There are only a few days left before it is time for the team to leave and the goal is still to get her moved in but it looks like there might still be a few things that won’t get completely finished. We are very thankful for Tom, Jack, John, Jerry, Chris, Jay, Sean, Wes and Patience who have come to help with the project and for those who helped with their expenses so they could make the trip. I have been able to get a lot of translation done while the team has been here.
Gospel Follow-Up
Since presenting the Gospel a while back, once a week we have been going back through reviewing the Gospel from the last few lessons. It has really helped those attending to come to a clearer understanding of all that was done for us when Christ died on the cross. Some have even testified that during the one of these review lessons they understood and placed their faith in the finished work of Christ. It is exciting to hear the difference in their understanding from just a month or so ago. Last week while working on translating the next phase of Bible lessons that we will be teaching my translation helper had a few questions. In one of his questions he made it very clear that he firmly believed that Jesus’ death paid the full penalty for our sins but he admitted that he still struggled with sin and didn’t know what to do about it. I reviewed several points from lessons that he has heard reminding him of other believers who still struggled with sin and also that Jesus’ death got rid of the punishment that we deserve for our sin but that it didn’t get rid of the sin itself. Then I read to him from 1 John 1:8-10 and right in the middle of it he just started sobbing. It took him quite a while to pull himself together again. We are starting to see some real evidences of the Spirit of God working in those who have given testimony of their faith in Christ.
