New Faith
After many months of teaching through the Word of God, the Gospel was presented in early May 2002. For the Gospel presentation we had approximately 50 people in attendance. But only half of those were regular attenders who really seemed interested in God’s Word. We are not sure yet, but it appears that maybe around 12 young adults have come to know the Lord. From most of them we have heard clear testimonies of faith in Jesus’ finished work on Calvary alone as taking the punishment for their sin. We are continuing to teach them by going over key Old Testament stories and emphasizing assurance of salvation. The first time they heard they were on the ‘outside’ but now they are on the inside as Children of God and can now see the stories through a new perspective. We are looking forward to seeing them grow in His grace through this time. Please pray for their growth and for them to be a strong witness for Christ to their families and friends.
Translation
David is busy with translation. He is currently working to complete the Gospel of Mark. After that he will continue preparing Bible lessons to use as we disciple the new believers. We also will be proofing the translation and Bible lessons so we can get them into the hands of the believers as soon as possible. The students who completed the first literacy class are anxious to read God’s Word. (For most of the students that was the primary motivation for attending.)
Literacy
Our first Literacy class was a success. Lately Lori Morley has been making some revisions to improve the course and she will start teaching a second class next month. This time some of the young men who went through the first time will be acting as the teachers with Lori supervising. The third class we hope to have taught entirely by Simbari teachers.
