"Prayer is the cutting edge of any work for God. It is not a supplemental spiritual rocket to get some well-meaning effort off the ground. Prayer is the work and the working power of any spiritual ministry. Is should be the central thrust." (R.A. Matthews)
Praise:
With 2010 well upon us, our family has been impressed anew with the importance of prayer. Remember our December prayer letter in which we shared some very specific prayer needs we had? Well, we’re praising God for how He’s graciously answered 2 of our 3 requests beyond what we had hoped:
-
First, at about the same time that we sent out our last prayer letter, we had a supporter let us know that for a month he’d been praying about providing us with a new computer. That was a month before we even began praying about the need! "…for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." (Mat 6:8) On top of that, we had a good, used laptop & monitor given to us by other supporters. Now our home network is in great shape for home schooling & ministry.
-
Second, we felt a four wheel drive vehicle would be useful for our future travels to the mountain tribal locations. The Lord answered this prayer through several supporters who worked together to give us a 1994 Ford F150 4X4 pickup.
Considering how the Lord graciously answered these two prayer requests, we have no doubt but that He will soon also answer our third request: Increased financial support. Even though our monthly support has dropped to only 45%, we’re confident that the Lord will answer this prayer, too, and in a way that will bring Him all the glory – just as He did with the answers mentioned above!
Prayer:
Moving from praise to prayer, here are our requests for this, the first month of 2010:
-
Increased financial support.
-
Additional Prayer Partners.
-
Rapid Spanish language progress for David. He must be at the required level of proficiency by May.
-
Wisdom as Sherri tries to get her Ladies’ Bible Study started in the neighborhood.
-
Clarity for Sherri’s Spanish grammar class as she continues to help train our newer missionaries.
-
Perseverance for Bethany & Matthew as they start their Spring school semester.
-
Safety for our family, as well as, all 120+ New Tribes missionaries here in Mexico. Especially those working in the tribal areas in the mountains where criminal activity often turns violent.
Thank you for remembering us in prayer before the Throne of Grace. After all, prayer is the working power of any ministry & should be the central thrust of everything we do for the Lord.
Yours for His Glory,
David & Sherri
