Quote of the week:
Elisha said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-17
Dear *|FNAME|*
Well, this week certainly did not turn out as we expected when I wrote this update last week. We expected to return home, resume life as normal, get back to work, etc. But, that is not what happened. Thank you all for praying. Robin is feeling better. Still has a little bit of a cough, but not too bad. I never did get sick. But, as per health professional mandate, we are staying home for 2 weeks.
Also, the saga regarding my passport. We still have no word from the airport or the airline that it has turned up. Please continue to pray. Since we are in quarantine, I can’t make an appointment to start a new one until we get “released.” So, maybe this is the Lord giving it a few more days to show up. As always, thanks for your valuable partnership. Enjoy the pictures of all in Michigan, and some thoughts on how God wants to use our lives to be his instrument to do his work. Elisha is a great example of that in 2 Kings 6.

Prayer Requests
- Thank you for praying for Robin. Keep praying for a full recovery. I have not “caught the bug.” Pray that I remain healthy also.
- Keep praying for my passport. With the few extra days due to quarantine, pray that it shows up.
- The process for renewing a passport will take 4-6 weeks. Then the PNG paperwork will take 2-3 months. We are hoping to return by early February. Pray this does not put that in jeopardy.
News
We had some sunshine one day this week. So, although we are in quarantine, I took the liberty to just go for a drive (making sure I stayed away from other people) and took some pictures of the fall colors. If the weather is nice this week, I may take another day this week to do the same.
Here are few of the pictures I took. I hope you enjoy them.
A lesson from the life of Elisha
Elisha said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-17
The things God did through Elisha are amazing. Its important to recognize that these are God’s works through the man Elisha. Elisha was Simply available and God used his hands and feet, eyes and mouth to do and display the works of God.
- 2 Kings 6:1-7 God makes an iron axe head float by using Elisha’s hands to cut a limb off and throw it in the river. (God worked using Elisha’s hands)
- 2 Kings 6:8-10 God sees the movements of the Syrians and warns the king with Elisha’s mouth (God worked using Elisha’s mouth)
- 2 Kings 6:11-17 Elisha prays, “Open his eyes that he may see.” So God does it. The mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire. “Those who are with us are more than those with them.” Somehow Elisha could see that. Only the eyes of God could see that. (God worked using Elisha’s eyes to strengthen the servant’s faith)
- 2 Kings 6:18-19 this sounds like Star Wars. “These are not the droids you are looking for.” God strikes them with blindness a a result of Elisha’s prayer. Then Elisha says, “This is not the way, and this is not the city you are looking for.” So he leads them right into the city of Samaria. (God worked using Elisha’s feet to lead the troops away from them)
Elisha is a beautiful example of living as God intended. Available for God, being His instrument to do His work. God using his hands, his mouth, his eyes, and his feet to do the work of God and to accomplish Gods plan! It’s amazing what God can do. Raising an Axe head, seeing the movements of the troops, seeing an horses and chariots of fire covering the mountain side, striking a whole regiment with blindness… These were all works of God, performed through the man Elisha. God wants to do great things through us too.
John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father”
