The Source of True Wisdom

In a world where there seems to be no limit to scientific discovery. Where electronics give us the control of almost everything at the tip of our fingers. A world where infant mortality is low and life expectancy is long. In all that man has discovered, without God, it’s nothing.

In reading Job 28, I am amazed at how advanced their society was. We are talking pre-flood here. Job describes man’s ability to mine gold and silver and ore underneath the ground. They had the ability to refine gold and to smelt ore and copper. They had the ability to dam up rivers, and produce some sort of light source. Job 28:11-12, 14-19.

But, Job says of wisdom in Job 28:12 “Man DOES NOT KNOW it’s worth. It is NOT FOUND in the land of the living.” So, in all these things man has discovered it does not give man wisdom. Job 28:28 says, “ Behold the fear of the Lord THAT IS WISDOM and to turn away from evil, that is understanding!

The world runs after all of these things. And today, the world is seeking a solution, and answer to Covid. They have turned to medicine and to doctors, and to social distancing. But, God says, wisdom only comes from the fear of the Lord. Wisdom only comes when we discover God’s sovereignty! The answer to Covid “cannot be found in the land of the living!”

Are you living in fear of Covid? Are you depending on medicine or social distancing to protect you? As believers our peace should never be found in the work of men! Our peace should be rooted and grounded in the confidence in God’s sovereignty… the fear of the Lord!

May we be ones that bring hope to trouble times… a hope that God will never allow us to die before His appointed time, and that ALL the events in our lives are in His hands.. May we be bringing hope, instead of contributing to the fear! The fear of God, our respect for His sovereignty, is the beginning of true wisdom!
