Don’t let sin control you

May 6, 2024 by David and Robin Watters

Bible Reading

  • 1 Sam 15-16
  • Psalm 61
  • Romans 6

What Spiritual Gift is God giving me for my growth today, that I can share with others? (Rom 1:11)

Rom 6:6 We were crucified WITH Christ so that sin might LOSE its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

What encouraged me in my faith? (Rom 1:12)

Psalm 61:2-3 From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. (NLT)

God is my fortress, the towering rock of safety, where I can run to and know I am safe.

What spiritual fruit does God want to work in me and that I desire to see work among them if I were there? (Rom 1:13)

1 Sam 15:22 Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

Rom 6:11 consider yourself dead to the power of sin, and alive to God through Jesus.

Rom 6:12-13 Don’t let sin control the way you live. Don’t give in to sinful desires. Don’t let any of your members become an instrument to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God for Him to use as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

Rom 6:16 You are slave to whatever you choose to obey
