Home Assignment Travels

November 28, 2012 by DJ and Jennifer Searcy

Since we arrived back in the United States on April 29 for our home assignment, we have logged over 18,000 miles on the road. Over the summer we traveled across the southwest to California, up the coast all the way to Washington, across the north as far as Wisconsin, and back down through the Midwest to Texas. All in all, we traveled through 15 different states, shared in 5 churches, and stayed in 16 different homes, 10 campgrounds, and 1 hotel room. We got back home to south Texas in August, tired but thankful for all the opportunities to connect with friends and supporters all along the way.
After a much needed month and a half at home in Texas, we started our second big trip. This time we headed east, traversing 8 states all the way up to New York. We shared about our ministry in 2 churches and visited 2 others, and stayed in 8 different homes along the way. We’ve been so blessed by all those who have opened their homes to us during our travels.

From New York we headed to Ohio, where we are currently spending almost a month with DJ’s extended family, our home church, and other churches and supporters in this area. From here we will spend several more weeks traveling through Michigan, Ontario, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma before arriving back home in Texas 3 days before Christmas.

Once we get back to Texas, we plan to be there until we return to Asia Pacific on June 4 of next year. We’ll continue to connect with our church, family, and friends in Texas during that time, and hopefully get in some rest as well before returning to the field.

Thanks for praying!
