It’s been over a month now since DJ got back from Australia. His skin graft site as well as the surgical wound on his arm (from another skin cancer removal) are both healed. His ear is doing much better too, and the wound is down to less than half the size it was when he got back. It is still somewhat sore but has stayed infection-free, for which we’re very thankful. He doesn’t have feeling in the top of his ear, but we’re hoping that will come back with time. Please keep praying for his healing.
We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support last month and amazed that extra gifts have continued to come in this month too. Thank you all so very much. We know that your giving is sacrificial, and we do not take it for granted. We are so amazed by the team the Lord has given us here and back in the US (and other countries) too.
This past month DJ as well as our coworkers Bill and Rosie worked to get several of our houses ready to be sub-contracted to new families with a different organization who are coming here to study language. Those families arrived a few days ago and are settling in. Pray for their adjustments and a good start into their language studies. I (Jennifer) have been working on revising some of our teaching notes and materials for our language and culture study program. Our coworker, Greg, and I also taught a kick-off class to our two families (the Kellers and Kresges) to get them started into the second section of their stage 3 studies. Then we sat in on a language session with each of them to see how this new section of studies is working for them. They are all doing well. We’d appreciate your continued prayers for their progress.
The kids started their new school year on Aug. 8. The girls are doing well in 7th grade, but still feel overwhelmed some days by the new schedule. Please pray for their adjustments to middle school. While they have made huge strides in managing their dyslexia over the past year, things like taking notes in class and managing a complex assignment schedule can still be pretty challenging for them. Tyndale is in 4th grade now and so far his training over the summer seems to be helping him a lot. He still has some trouble staying focused and completing classwork. But now he knows methods to help himself focus, so he has been much more encouraged and confident so far this year. Thanks so much for praying for our kiddos. They all want to serve the Lord with their lives. Pray that they’ll keep growing in their walks with Him.
