The Schaibles Wish You All A Very, Merry Christmas
Can you imagine the anticipation of the wise men as they drew closer to where the star had appeared? For these three men and their company to leave their homeland to find the One who was prophesied of in the pages of the prophets must have been a very serious undertaking.
The Magi found who they were looking for but it took the Lord coming to them in the form of a baby in order for them to be found. Just as they were awed and humbled at seeing the Lord in the manger, we also can have the same awe and wonder this season as we meditate on the Lord’s mercy and love for us evidenced by His entrance into the human race to effect our salvation.
This next year looks to be an even busier one than this year. We are very grateful for the opportunities He has given us and especially for the students who are now being trained to go to the remotest areas of the world to reach those who have never had a chance to hear what the Magi saw. Unless someone physically goes and tells these people, they will remain lost. Thank you for praying for the tribes and the missionaries who are reaching them. The Lord will not forget your work and labor of love. Cheryl and I pray that the Lord will prosper you in all that you do and that you would be in good health, even as your souls prosper.
Doug & Cheryl’s Update
Cheryl and I have been very busy this past year. We have been in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma & Wyoming. In some of these states, we have been there several times. While one of the responsibilities is to find laborers who want to go to a tribe to reach people, we also have been involved in relating to those churches who have sent their members to our training. In some cases, we have taken the leadership of those churches to our Missionary Training Center in Missouri to see the process by which we train their members.
Thank you all for praying for safety and success in finding these laborers and their churches who want to be involved in reaching tribal people.
Leah
Leah is doing well. She is in a bible study with our daughter-in-law, Jane, and enjoying it immensely. It is encouraging for us to see her grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She still manages an On The Border restaurant here in Wichita. She continues to gain more responsibility and wants to move up in the business. Please pray that she would find opportunities to minister to those around her and be a blessing to folks who come into the restaurant for a relaxing evening with their families.
Daniel, Jane & Maddie
A neat family and we are thankful that they are ours. Daniel had been out of work for a couple of months but was just able to get another job yesterday. Please pray that he would be able to earn enough to take care of his family during these tough economic times.
Jane is still teaching a weekly ladies’ bible study and is doing a very good job at it. Please pray that she and Daniel will be encouraged by the Lord’s testing of their faith. Pray also for Maddie to become a woman of God as she eventually grows into a young, godly woman.
Joel & Katie
As you know, Joel and Katie were married on October 1st and returned from their honeymoon to start their lives together. They both work together where they met and are enjoying their time as newlyweds.
As they start their lives together, please pray for them to follow the Lord in whatever He desires for them to do.
Thank you all so much
Cheryl and I want to thank you for your prayers and kindness this past year. We have been very busy and it looks like the next year is starting off the same for which we are even more grateful. Just in the Spring, we will be in Ohio, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Texas, Missouri and Illinois and once again, some of these states we will visit several times.
In June, Cheryl and I will be celebrating our 40th year together as husband and wife. It has been a privilege being married to her and I am very grateful that she and I have a common sense of humor. I can’t imagine what it would be like if she did not laugh at my jokes and she says she can’t imagine what it would be like if I did not give her a reason to laugh at my foibles. Ha ha! Wait a minute! What did she mean by that?
Have a very wonderful Christmas. We are so grateful that the Lord gave us friends like all of you and especially that the Lord gave us a Friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Your servants for the Lord’s sake,
Doug & Cheryl Schaible
