Hello from Mexico!
We found out after we had checked into our flight last Wednesday, that our flight home was cancelled! That was a surprise! A flight opened up Thursday morning and we managed to get booked on it for Sunday. Then it was also cancelled!! So we should be able to get home by Monday. It just gives us an unexpected weekend with the kids here in Mexico.
Part of Amy and Hector’s responsibilities here at the Training Center is to maintain security at the center while the other staff and students are gone for the summer. We have been able to help with some “farm chores” and enjoy seeing the kids take
part too. Elena (3) and Sofia (1) really enjoy going
to round up and feed the sheep, chickens, and cat. As well as gather the eggs each day.
Other than all the children being sick for a few days, we have had a great time together.
We’ve been trying to maintain our normal office type work from here as well. The internet is sometimes a little slow, but we have done ok so far.
Last Thursday George went with Hector to bring down some items from Texas for a gal who is moving back to Mexico. She had a trailer full. He rented a trailer here, and drove to El Paso, loaded the trailer, did errands, and returned to Mexico with the load. It was a LONG drive!! They left at 5:30 am and git home after midnight1
George went along to help and tried to get our return to Florida airline tickets squared away. He was able to do that –but later in the afternoon, the airline cancelled that flight TOO!!! So–our latest attempt was with another airline, and we’ll now fly out (Lord willing) Sunday afternoon from Southern Texas. Thanks to some of our good friends who helped us out of this dilemma!
Please pray for Hector and Amy as they work here at “Rancho Siloe” which is the name for the training center here just north of Chihuahua city. They had another couple cancel for next semester, so have decided to cancel the first year training class this fall, and do an intake in January for a larger class. They would have had just the one couple for the first year training. They are short staffed as it is, so it seemed like a wiser thing to postpone the first year class.
Please pray for them to have wisdom and grace as they find coverage for all of the classes and one-on-one discipleship with the second year students. Also pray for their kids as they continue to grow and develop. And to get over their sickness! Judah is 7, Ben just turned 6, Elena is 3 and Sofia is 1. Judah and Ben will be going to the MK School in Chihuahua this Fall.
Beka and Cody are doing well in PNG! Cody is back in the hangar learning the ropes there after he took trip out to a village where he helped work on a project.
The “stateside kids” from our family are all doing well. We are so thankful for our family. We certainly appreciate your prayers for each of them too!
We are so thankful for each of you!!
Please feel free to let us know how we can pray for you as well! A note, email, or call is always appreciated. Thanks Friends!!!
In His Strength,
George and Linda Heckman
