Berglund Bulletin

January 9, 2008 by Greg and Pamela Berglund

Dear friends and family;

Happy New Year!

We are settling in to a routine now that the kids are back in school and Greg is home and all stocked up on translation materials. Greg runs the kids to school then locks himself in his office translating all day while Katie and Caleb and I play, clean, shop, go to Dr. apt.s and all the other things that have to be done in a normal day. Then the night is full of homework, baths, dinner, etc.

We did get the results back on the two tests Caleb had last week. The swallow drill went fine and no problems were discovered. They did find a very small aortic regurgitation during the echocardiogram. From what I understand this is basically a heart murmur. They said they don’t expect that it will heal itself, so he will need yearly checkups from a pediatric cardiologist. They don’t feel it is a major thing at all, just something that needs to be monitored, and we should be able to do that by going to Singapore once each year. The Doctor doesn’t feel that this finding has any bearing on why he isn’t gaining weight, so Caleb and I will be going to Denver at the end of January to see a specialist. Please continue praying that Doctor’s will be able to find out what the problem is.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Caleb the day of the tests. He was a champ; slept through the night, and even through being transfered to his car seat and to the hospital! He sucked down the barium solution and then, later, even slept through his echocardiogram where they needed him to be still. He really couldn’t have been a better baby through it all, and I have had enough children to know that everything going smoothly is NOT the norm! I am confident it was due to all the prayers sent up for him!

Greg is still experiencing numbness in 3 of his fingers so the Doctor is wanting him to see a neurologist to find out what is causing that. Last time I wrote I asked you to pray for my niece who was shot in the eye. It turns out it was a pellet or BB, not a full size bullet, but she did lose her sight in that eye, and they were unable to remove the BB because it is very close to a main artery. Please pray for her and her parents as they work through this.

Despite all the medical things we are dealing with we are doing very well, the kids are really a light at the school they are attending and we have made many friendships that are giving us lots of opportunities to share the hope that we have within us. They are also maturing and growing in so many ways.

Our Visa’s were approved at the consulate in Chicago, even though they didn’t start on them until the deadline due to a backlog at the consulate. Please pray that we will be able to use them and return to Indonesia at the end of March.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support, it is so neat to know that we have people all over the world praying for us!

In Him;
Greg, Pam, Nate, Hannah, Grace, Katie, and Caleb Berglund
