Bible Translation Training September 2017

September 30, 2017 by heather_badiane

We have been in the capitol for a Bible translation training. G, M and Charles have just copleted two weeks of learning general guidelines for Bible translation and attempting to put them into practice in Joola. They translated passages from Acts 17. What an eye opening training! We never knew how difficult it would be! First, they have to study different sources to be sure that they understand the text well. Then they have to make sure that what they write reveals the true meaning of the text, that it is easily and clearly understood and that the finished text flows naturally in the style of the local language. Pray for this project. First we have to get analysis of the language finished. We need to work out spelling discrepancies, and start working on the literacy project. We will also have other trainings before we get started on translation. We are also seeking financial partners for this project. If you are interested in giving, please put a note with your gift saying, “Badiane ministry Senegal, Bible translation”.
