Thank you!

Unloading relief supplies on an island in the Philippines

“Thank you,” the typhoon survivor said over and over again, tears in his eyes. “Thank you.”

To you. Yes, he was talking to you. Let me explain.

The man wouldn’t stop shaking the hand of missionary pilot Zach Keller. He just stood there, smiling, crying, and saying, “Thank you.”

A short time earlier, Zach had landed an NTM helicopter on the island where the man lives, carrying a load of rice. It wasn’t hard to find a level spot. Typhoon Haiyan had taken care of that. It was just a matter of avoiding the debris.

As Zach began unloading large sacks of rice, the smiles and the thanks came raining down. Most aid is going to islands on the eastern side of the Philippines. NTM is teaming with MAF to help neglected islands on the western side of the archipelago.

After Zach was back in the air, he thought how unfair it was that he got the thanks, when so many other people behind the scenes are working and giving to make this possible.

When that man said thanks, he was talking to you too. You’ve made what Zach is doing possible, by standing with Julie and me. My work made it possible for people to give online toward NTM’s typhoon relief work. More than $100,000 has come in so far, and I have to share the man’s thanks.

Your involvement in our ministry is helping make this – and many other things – possible. You’re saving lives in the Philippines, and bringing the message of eternal life to some of the darkest corners of the globe.

My prayer is that as you give thanks this week – and, I hope, in the weeks and weeks after that – you will remember how thankful Julie and I are for you, and that you will be thankful to God for the role you can play in our work.
