I love pictures and love to take pictures and yes a good picture goes a long way and maybe worth a thousand words, but a thousand words without a good translation to preach the gospel is much like a picture, it will fade with time. The time and cost of giving tribal people a good translation is the reason for failing churches in many places around the world, English is a powerful language, but working in a place like Papua New Guinea with over 800 languages it is much like speaking in an unknown tongue to most. The apostle Paul says it like this, I Corinthians 14:19, “Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.” Pray with us, we need more men and women that can preach and teach people groups in their heart language and give them a translation that will not fade with time but give them tools to reach their own and beyond. A good translation in a tribal setting cost time, money but most of all, much of one’s life; Romans 12:2 calls it a “living sacrifice.” Jack
