Today we enjoyed a day at the Koala Sanctuary enjoying God’s creation and reflecting on our amazing God who we can trust for our daily life! God made koalas, kangaroos and platypuses so they can survive and thrive in their environments, so he will definitely enable us to do the same!
Thank you for praying!! We are so thankful to be able to tell you that Naomi’s MRI, ophthalmologist, dermatologist and neurologist appointments went very well last week. The neurologist said that the MRI showed no change of the melanin in her brain, so she recommended another MRI in 2 years instead of annually! We are excited about this! The ophthalmologist and dermatologist also saw no changes in the vision or birthmarks and recommended another review in a years’ time. Naomi continues to grow healthy and develop normally at 2 ½ years old and we are so very thankful!
Also, I wanted to thank you for praying for our work visa situation… there were some big meetings at the end of April that we wanted to update you about… NTM with representatives from 8 other mission organizations, met with 3 members of the Port Moresby Labour Dept and 3 members from the local Goroka Labour office at the NTM Centre in Goroka. Overall, the meetings were very positive. Verbal assent was given to all of our proposed changes, albeit some with stronger affirmation than others. The best news of the first meeting was that we were given strong assurance that two job categories in particular, Teachers and Nurses, were definitely going to be put back onto the “open for Expat” list. The “proof will be in the pudding” as to whether this Missionary Volunteer category will be in the final draft of the work permit classifications. Keep praying.
In another meeting about 15 of our citizen workers were asked about what training they had received from being part of NTM. For two hours, our workers talked about all the things they have learned how to do since becoming part of NTM. Several of them who now hold positions of great responsibility told of how they started here with very little formal education and very few skills. Simply put, the Labour Department officials were floored.
Thank you for your prayers, God continues to work is so many ways! And we are thankful that we get to be a part of it!
