Some missionaries are called to sacrifice by leaving friends and family, giving up the luxuries of a Western lifestyle, and by eating bugs. But the missionary kids I know smile at these “sacrifices” and tell fond stories of growing up in a world of adventure.
God’s call to missions requires me to set aside a personal vision of living the American dream. But God has a vision of life for me that is priceless! What good is it to gain the whole world, and forfeit your soul? Is there any sense in trading the gifts of God for temporary possessions of life? I am thankful that God has plans for me, and I’m not abandoned to the worldly practice of looking out for number one.
