It’s that time of year for us again…moving. Seems like a monumental task that happens at least twice a year in our lives. Sometimes we wonder why we even bother unpacking. Hanging pictures on the wall feels as futile as trying to turn a hotel room into a home for a few days. Living this way reminds us of the reality that this world is not our home. Notice the words on the picture coming off the wall: “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). Oh, that we could always remember the precious gift of each moment God allows us to enjoy and use!
Our family is moving to Asia-Pacific at the beginning of August. Even after so many years of preparation, it’s happening more quickly than expected, due to Baby #3 coming in November. Our well-laid plans apparently weren’t exactly what God had in mind, so the last two months have involved a lot of prayer and thought as to whether He wanted to speed us up or slow us down.
Just three days ago we unpacked our bags for a very short summer in Michigan. In about seven more weeks, we’ll be packing them up again to move overseas. There’s a lot to remember, a lot to do, and a lot to worry about if we get our focus on the wrong thing. But God has always been so faithful to provide for every need and calm every fear, we know He is trustworthy and will sustain us through all the struggles to come.
Will you join us as we (finally!) go? Please pray faithfully and fervently that God will make the way clear as we move forward in faith! For more information and specific prayer requests, email us or call so we can put you on our mailing list (use the blog contact form if you don’t have our information, and we’ll get back with you soon!). Also, visit our new Facebook page, fb.me/sendthekresges for ongoing information.
Jared and Carol,
Please add me to your mailing list so that I can pray for you more effectively! I am excited for you and your family, and will be praying for wisdom as far as the timing goes.
