Weekends are when we have our meetings. On Saturday mornings I take a bus from town to our son Scott’s house near the first village. From there drive in our pickup to the farthest village for an afternoon meeting.
Sunday morning we leave at sunup to pick up folks from the first village and drive to the second village. There they (plus most of the missionaries) go to the house where we’ll hold the meeting, while a trip is made to the third village to pick up folks there who want to come to the meeting. After the meeting is over the whole process is reversed.
We sing, then Scott does the review of the previous week’s lesson with his ventriloquist dummy, "Txoko." The folks love that, and seem to really learn from it. Then after a song or so I teach the lesson, end in prayer, and then we sing again. After that someone closes the meeting with a word of prayer.
Sunday afternoon is spent riding (bouncing?) back to town in the bus over the bumpy roads. It sure is good to get home!
