There’s no way to express how good it was to be there for Amos and Cymbre’s wedding day. It was also very special to reconnect with family, the Meadowbrook church in Molalla, Oregon, and Salem in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. A huge thank you to our home church, Salem, for making this trip possible for us. You can see a more complete “thank you” letter on our blog TO SALEM>>>
For those of you who know Danica’s brother Amos, here is a picture of him and his beautiful bride, Cymbre.
We’ve been home for three weeks, now, and life is back to normal: the kids are catching lizards and whatever other critters they can find while Jevon and I study away at Portuguese.
With so many of our Brazilian friends gone traveling for school break during this month of July, we are focusing more time and energy into reviewing, processing, and analyzing language. Here, Jevon is listening to part of a sermon in Portuguese and transcribing it. After that he will mark it all up with notes about verb forms and other parts of speech. In this kind of work what we are doing is aggressively listening – taking note of the FORM people choose to use to communicate the MEANING they want to communicate.
THANK GOD FOR:
- a good trip for Danica and Isaiah
- the relationships that we have with each of you
- God’s faithful provision for every need in every area of life
- the time, energy, and zeal He gives us for study
- the daily encouragement He gives us in His Word
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR:
- the rest of the language and culture we need to absorb and apply. Our goal is to finish NCLA before the end of the year – we are aiming for as early as October or no later than December.
- focus for Jevon as this finishing phase of language learning can be…well…kind of boring sometimes…but has to be finished!
- creative time management for Danica each day, to get this language learned and still stay tuned in as a wife and mom.
- the flight program. See more about Flight Program >>>
- clarity in the decision of where we will work after we finish NCLA
With joy, partnering with you as co-workers in Christ,
The Rich family
