The Sights of Our Daily Life

January 31, 2012 by Joel and Andi

The View Around Our Neighborhood

Here are some of the normal things we saw this week.  Some I caught in Pictures, others I can only describe with words.

– The street infront of our house flooded with sewage.  There is only one way to get across it.

– A baby crawling around in a snowsuit (after all it is in the 60’s)

– A man walking around carrying 8 flats full of eggs

– A lady dancing down the street with a bucket of water on her head.

– 10 men crowded around a TV watching the African Cup (soccer game).

– Melons and oranges carefully stacked in a pyramid as they wait to be purchased

– A bus so full that 5 people are riding on the bumper

Senegal has Pharmacies like Portland has Starbucks (they are also always green)
Cooking and selling bags of peanuts
Shoes for sale lining the road
Not our fruit stand, but one nearby which looks similar
Waiting for the bus
Waiting for the bus
Bags of juice and water are probably the most common drink here
Need a place to put your helmet...just hang it from a tree
Tires...for when you need a new one
Security ready and watching
Our Friend

The View inside our House

There is one less tooth around our house

Ethan Carrying his puppies like Africans carry their babies
The nightly bucket bath to wash off the sand and dirt
Our cars...always organized by type, color and size

Continue to Pray for Peace

The announcement of the candidates has brought about the beginning wave of concern in the country.  Although we are currently safe, we are taking extra precautions and are hoping things won’t escalate any more.  We are praying that a peaceful resolution can be found, but at this point we have no idea what to expect and are just taking things one day at a time.

You do such a good job keeping us informed and interested in your lives. It does help us remember to pray. Thank-you. God bless you all and keep you safe.

Great notes and pictures. So fun to see and makes it much easier to know how to pray for you all. Miss your whole family.
