5 Things I Like about Buying Bread

February 22, 2012 by Joel and Andi

This week I realized how much I love buying bread and here is why…

  • 1.  It gets me and usually one of the boys out of the house everyday.
  •  2. The bread is fresh and tastes wonderful
  •  3. Unlike other stores, they almost always have what I want
  •  4. I don’t have to wonder if I am paying to right price, since the price is written on the glass
  •  5. It provides a chance to unwind on stressful days

Our bakery used to be just across the street, but it closed for remodeling.  In the meantime we have to walk a few blocks away to pick up our bread.  This week I especially appreciated my trips to the bakery, since our life right now has been characterized by waiting and watching…

  • Waiting and watching as the violence escalates
  • Waiting for a host family
  • Waiting to know if we are moving in 3 weeks
  • Waiting to communicate as we progress in language

Some days I handle being patient better than other days.  Yet on those difficult days, it is nice to have an enjoyable outing to look forward to.  Thank you God for Fresh Bread!

Yay for fresh, French-style, bakery bread. (Now I think I need to go visit my bakery.) I am glad you have something to relieve the stress a bit. I am glad you are trusting in God. Waiting is so hard, I hate it! I’m praying for your safety and that you will continue to learn what God has to teach you all as you wait for the things he’s already prepared for you. Love you all so much!

I think you got your patience from me . . . or maybe you needed to learn patience because of me. I can’t remember. But I am so glad for the lessons God is teaching you.

    Love,
    Dad

That is just one of the things I love about God. He can take the simplest basic things in our life and make even them a rich blessing. I am so delighted that you my dear daugher have found the rich blessing in finding bread a blessing from the Bread of Life.
    Thanks for sharing
    Love Mom

It is good to find things to be thankful for in the midst of uncertainty and struggle! Thank you for serving!

My prayer is that God will give you His wisdom in learning languages and His peace and comfort in this different way of life!

“What shall separate us from the Love of God?”

    In Christ, our powerful Lord,
    Carolyn
