Success

May 28, 2012 by Joel and Andi

It is always important to celebrate the little successes on a long journey.  Today was a success worth celebrating for us.  We are now settled in enough to our life and home that we have begun diving into culture with our host family.  Today was one step on this journey as we learned how to prepare and serve a Senegalese meal.  We began preparing our meal at 9am and finally ate at 2pm, followed by socializing and tea.  We then ended the day with our language session.  After all this we were exhausted, but also felt like we had a lot to celebrate.

We spent an entire day in French
I successfully cooked a Senegalese meal
With a lot of help
It was a great time of learning and bonding together
Our children played wonderfully together
They especially enjoyed the art supplies we have
We all ate together
Ethan did amazingly well the entire day and loved the meal
Little by little we are adapting and beginning to understand life here

Thank you God for little steps of progress!

This is huge success! There are different language skills for hanging out all day in the kitchen – way to talk & cook & learn all day. The meal was a success, your kids thrived and enjoyed the process, and you made a huge milestone. So happy for you!
