Celebrations

June 2, 2012 by Joel and Andi

The New Testament Completed in Another Language

A Celebration of God’s Word

Today we gathered with hundreds of other people to celebrate the completion of the New Testament in the Noon Language.  It was great to see the rejoicing and celebration over God’s Word.  The pastor of our church is from this people group, so it was a big celebration for our host family.  We hope that God will continue to build his church among these people.  Rejoice with us today as you see the pictures of our celebration!

Hundreds Gathered
80 percent of the people all wore the same fabric
We joined the festivities all dressed alike as well
The day began with a long ceremony recognizing all who had been a part of this work
Our kids were less than impressed with this part (I think 1 sermon is their maximum capacity)
After the ceremony food was prepared
And the real festivities began
We all ate together
Bibles were handed out
People rejoiced together over God's Word
Rejoiced with Dancing
Women danced
Men Danced
Our pastor danced
They even danced with their Bibles
It was a great day
Pray that this truth will continue to be read
Pray that the church in this people group will grow

Another Celebration

Yesterday I entered my thirty's

In my 20’s I: Got married, had two chilldren, taught 3 years of high school math, completed missionary training, moved to Africa, and began learning a completely new way of life.  I am excited to see what the next 10 years has in store for me and my family.

I read this newsletter this morning before I went to church. My heart danced with rejoicing because the Noon people now have a New Testament in their own language and because they danced in rejoicing at the gift God had given them. It still blesses my heart just to think of it. May the Lord bless you mightily as you continue in His service. Happy birthday, Andi!
Thank you for sharing your life and adventures with us. Praying for you. Jeannette

Happy belated birthday! Life is an adventure and it doesn’t end until your last breath and then you get to start a wonderful new adventure!!! Please teach me how to wear scarves when you get back. I just don’t have the knack but I get so tired of wigs! I love the fabrics and scarves I see the women wearing. Follow the yellow brick road. love Aunt Elisabeth

I echo the above. Where was the picture of you and Joel dancing? 🙂 As I saw those people standing on the platform I wondered what it would be like to see that kind of fruit from a long labor of love. What an incredible blessing. And I wish we could all learn to celebrate with that kind of abandon.

I was a bit stunned to see your last 10 years recapped in such a way. Was it really only 10 years? What an amazing decade. And I do look forward to seeing how God will bless his Name through you in the next ten years. ]

    Love,
    Dad

What an amazing celebration! That is wonderful! And I am celebrating you and the women God has made you and the impact you’ve had for Christ. You’ve had a busy past decade and I know the Lord has more amazing blessings ahead for you! I love you!

I was waiting to see a picture of you and Joel dancing!
Pretty fun. A good reminder of how precious God’s word is, and how blessed we are to have it so readily available to us!
    Happy Birthday Andi!
    love and prayers,
    Aunt Patti

Great rejoicing! They hold in their hands one of the very greatest gifts possible, ever, ever, ever. The only gift greater that they could receive is God’s Spirit. May they receive that as well. What a blessing God placed you in that village at just such a time as this. You could have missed this celebration, but God said you needed to attend. I’m so happy for you. (And I forgot just how very young you are. Mmmm.) I pray you have many, many more blessed years ahead in God’s gracious will.

Cheering for eternal work being accomplished. Angels are singing & dancing with you at the Word being present & written & read in the Noon language. What an accomplishment for the Kingdom. We all celebrate with you. Celebrating in matching fabric & clothing is just a funny detail that keeps the cultural & present life in the middle of this eternal accomplishment. My heart is so happy. I cheer you on from New York and would make a matching outfit just to show you how much I mean it! Andrea
